Need advice: gig or mag?

its green tentacles with pink tips

and this is a picture showing China's strong robust anemone market. I easily found gigs of all color and this guy is tired of his two red had. I promise everyone's jaw will drop when hearing the price he's taggin on

Being so close to the source means prices can remain relatively low. The biggest problem with gigs, as we all know, is that they ship poorly. Getting from export to the U.S. is the problem for us. By the time we get them, they're in terrible shape. I expect prices on all nems to be a lot lower than here in the U.S. That said, I wonder how much Caribbean species cost over there.

they seemingly show no interest in condy so I barely knew a vendor that sold them. I lost the contact of this guy but left a message to him on the local forum. He's one that sold me a brown gig cut half from a big one

ironically they're way closer to indonesia but the maricultured sps are way more expensive than in america. I'm still looking for a posting in HK. they basically only sell small coral colonies and all sorts of anemone and all sorts of equipments at unbeatable price:celeb2::celeb2:

Wow, those are some great pics!

So as I understand it, mags like attaching to rock. Do gigs like attaching to rock or in the sand? I've read both, so curious what people have done in their tanks?

both attach to rock with Magnifica want to be on top of a flat rock. Gigantea wanted to be in a crevice sticking out to the sun, often at the rock/sand interface or just on side of rock.

OrionN, those are real beauties! Nice!

Between mag or gig, you can't go wrong with either, both have eye drawing qualities to them.

Well, I've decided to give it another try and I'm going to order a new gig. So, what's my best bet for acclimation? I've read people drip acclimating for hours or matching temp and placing in tank depending on condition in bag. Also, I know high lighting, but what's best for flow? Thanks in advance.

I think that this can vary. My last gig stayed at the top of a burm attached to a horizontal dinner plate type rock. It never moved for three years. My new gig, which is recovering from infection and only in my tank for 1 month is attached to rock with its foot in a crevice.

I guess youd probably set up a ht and throw it in upon its arrival

If you have anemone in your DT, I would not put him there on arrival. If there is no anemone there you can put him in there. Treat if problem. Make sure he attach to something that you can remove, not on a huge LR that is the main structure of your tank. You dont really wat to pry a sick anemone from LR to treat him. It just stress him all that much more.
Better solution is to have a great HT/QT Put him in there for a few days and treat if needed. Need good QT, good light and circulation if you go this rout.

Picking up a new gig tomorrow. I have a Coralife aqualight led setup on my tank, am I going to want to put the new gig higher than near the sand bed? I've been running the lights at 75%, but I could increase that as needed. Thanks.

Well, I've decided to give it another try. Here's what's in my HT, pic was taken immediately after introduction to the tank. So, start treatment immediately, or do I give it overnight at least to get settled before treatment? I've got cipro on hand, so should be set to go either way. Thanks.

Just put into the tank, he looks OK. I would see how he looks tomorrow. If he is already in a Hospital tank, then You can just treat him.
He looks nice. Best of luck with him.

Good luck with him, not looking too bad for a pic after immediate introduction.

Update: here's pics from a little bit ago. It has settled in near the powerhead and appears to be doing alright, inflated and better extension. Not excited about the open mouth, but thought I would check here for other opinions. I treated with cipro last night just in case, as it was already in the HT.
