And I run mine so that my alk is maintained at 7.6(hanna alk checker) .. My effluent rate is 42ml/min, and I have I bubble on the counter every 6 seconds, running off my manifold.. It is a geo 618..

a calcium reactor might be useless to u until u get some growth and alk starts dripping daily

I lost 1.1 dkh in 24 hours last night. I have about 18 frags and 6 bigger coral. The bigger corals are 4 LPS, a leather, and a mushroom. I have been testing daily for Alk and it has been minimal Alk usage, but last few days it has started to use more.

that was from Wednesday and this morning its 1290. Both my alk and mag dropped more in the last 24 hr than it has yet.

I think that blue stag frag I picked up Tuesday is the reason. Lol.

I check the Alk and Cal every ugh the when I get home. I check the mag every few days. I checked it again last night (this morning 02:30 am) because my alk dropped more than I am used too. I have 50 gallons ready for a WC tonight when I get home.

I know this is an older thread, but need some advice.. Could my effluent dripping in the same chamber as my ph probe for the tank be giving false high readings? If so, where should I put it? Like in an overflow box?

If anything, it should make your ph read low. That said, best practice is to locate the two as far apart as possible in different chambers with the probe upstream. This will give the effluent time to mix. Might be time to re-calibrate your probe.

I run a steady stream on mine. The effluent from my CaRx runs into a hang on specimen container that spills into the sump from a hole I drilled in it. I have a wooden airstone in the specimen container making bubbles. This out gasses some of the C02 to help my pH. My pH probe is on the other side of the sump.

I think it's from all of the light on my system (I may just go back to the hps on my fuge because of this).. I have a 600 watt led light on my Lagoon (only running blue), a 300 watt led(full spectrum) on my fuge(it seems like I get the most bump from this every time it's on for more than 5 hours), and then on my display, plenty of light also with my t5/led hybrid..

This has just never happened before so I'm very confused..

As mention previously, start by calibrating the probe. This is more than likely your issue, and it may need replacing.

Those are good ph readings. Quit worrying about something that does not have that great of effect on our systems.

Ok so I have been looking at monitoring systems and how do you have a probe the monitors magnesium? I can only see ph-Sal-orp-leak detection for sale. I want a system that just monitors salinity-alk-magnesium-temp-calcium. Is that possible?

Hmmnn.. That high during the day? My fear is the high pH killing off inverts.. I had a major crash and this had only, of course taken place since my sps has been gone..

But I did discover that it is not the reactor, but the fuge and tub lights.. Lol, those things are so strong (a lot stronger than I even considered myself and I've used these lights for an extremely long time) that it pushes the pH and other good values way, way up.. That's if I had a slightly larger system (I think it would work great in a 300 or larger display based system..

But I removed the led in the fuge and put my hps back on.. Thanks though for the heads up.. I see your a major stick grower, so I will file your recommendations in my brain for the future.. Major thanks..
