Need Help Identifying Anemone

They are the dreaded Aiptasia. Time to break out the kalk paste and kill them before they take over.

no just pull the clam out of the water and scrape them off, you dont want to risk bathing the clam in aptasiax or kalk

if there are no corals near to them then i agree with the idea to kill them in the tank, but dont risk your clam.

And all the little scraps that remain behind become more :D A toothbrush (new and unused) might work if you prefer scraping.

What about Red Hermit Crabs? Anyone have any luck with them taking out the problem? I really hate adding ANY chemical.

Crabs on the whole aren't solution for aiptasia. If you want to go biological control, Berghia nudibranchs only eat aitptasia. There are some other critters that work, but can be a problem for other small anemone like things such as yellow polyps. Most notably, peppermint shrimp and copper banded butterflies.

Lysmata wurdemanni - Peppermint shrimp. There is another species referred to as peppermint shrimp though and they won't eat aiptasia.

I've seen the warnings regarding Camelback Shrimp. Where can I get the Berghia from? I think I'll try both. My LFS has Peppermint shrimps.
