Need Help Now!!!

My Green Carpet just decided to chow down on my Naso about ten minutes ago. The carpets been in the tank for less than a week, and I guess while the Naso went to check it out it decided to have a snack! I didn't want to try and break them apart since the carpet is extremely sticky and I'd probably end up killing them both. After about five minutes the tang managed to break free and swim away. Here are a couple shots. Should I try to get the tang out and put him in my fuge (25G)? At least there he can mend himself even if it is so small. Feed him some garlic food? Any other help???

The refugium should be fine for a while. I wouldn't leave the fish in the display. Maybe the fish has learned to stay away from the carpet anemone, but anemones are successful predators for a reason.

Since the Tang is already stressed out, I would suggest leaving him where he is. Hopefully, he wil eat on his own and recover quickly.

My guess is that he's going to stay away from the anemone. To make sure, you might want to put a big strawberry type basket over the anemone to keep them apart.

I have also heard that carpets have the most success at night because the lights are out, the fish can't see and they run into them. I have heard people using night lights to help their fish avoid the carpets.

It's a nice carpet, if you don't feel up to keeping him, I'm sure someone in your area will buy him.

Could treat with some MelaFix and some vitamins keep his immune system up. Feed garlic soaked foods.. Being that he is stressed will be an easy subject for parasites.

I managed to get the Naso out of the tank and put him in my fuge for now. Less stress and I can medicate him easier. Anybody have any suggestions on medications? Nothing copper based as my fuge is hooked up to the display. Is MealFix reef safe? I'll go get whatever I need to in the morning.

I wouldn't add any medicine until I saw signs of infection. If the tang does start looking sick, I'd suggest getting a hospital tank together. I wouldn't want to dose my tank with antibiotics, personally.

Be careful with Melafix. Packaging says it's made from natural ingredients but it's very strong and if too much is used it will kill. My bad experience was an accident and was with a freshwater tank but I try and tell everyone to be careful with it. I personally believe it should be mentioned on the label not to overdose.
It's ok in a reef but will make your skimmer go nuts.
