Need help picking a show fish

I have 48x32x18 tank, it will be mostly SPS with clams. Rock is set up as an island somewhat in the middle of the tank. I plan on keeping few small fish and one bigger one, as a show piece. I am looking for ideas ,what this fish should be. As long as it fits my criteria ( tank size, clams, sps ) , I am open to suggestions.

Those anthias are nice, but I wouldn't consider that a showpiece. How much are you willing to spend on your "showpiece"?

Yeah, I agree with you , I want something a little bigger and active. I would say $1000 would be the limit.

Black Tang
Gem tang would be awesome but that would be a little more expensive.
Regal Angel (mostly reef safe) would also be cool once you've had it up and running a little while
Terminal male Lineatus Wrasse would look nice
Crosshatch trigger

Just a couple off the top.

This tank is too small for most of those suggestions, the wrasse should be okay

I politely agree. A nice big terminal male fairy would indeed be nice. I also agree that if you can find a rare dwarf angel in your budget it would be ideal. Maybe I'm strange but a wrasse doesn't scream show-fish to me. The tank is going to be too small for most tangs and large angels.

If you find the right prices, you could get away with a Joculator Angel and a pair of Anthias like the one in your pic. Just my suggestion, good luck!

I was going to say Joculator in the beginning but I wasn't sure about your budget. A black tang would be ok in there for awhile, granted you could get a small one and then you would need to upgrade or part ways with it once it gets larger. A regal would also fall in line with the black tang for your tank. Although I don't consider a Regal a showpiece. I had an orange belly Red Sea Regal and decided to let it go because I like the look of several wrasses swimming around. But other people have different definitions on a show fish and that's fine with me.

I believe u are looking for something like this......

I think a Gold flake would be a very kewl choice. It would be my choice to stock it with anthias, tilefish and a few larger peaceful wrasses.
