Im in the process of setting up my 46 gallon bowfront and a 20 gallon sump. I have built the stand and sump. Know im getting ready to figure out how the plumbing will work to connect my tank to my sump. Id like to keep the diameter of the pvc to a minimal so i can push the tank as close to the wall as possible. Do I have to use PVC or could i use plastic tubing? I am thinking of getting these pre made parts to work in the tank which would mean i have to connect these to the sump. Any DIY recomendations or websites that explain this issue??? Thanks as always for eveyones help!!!

The Tank Is Not Pre Drilled. I Wanted To Keep It Sort Of Simple But Know Ive Added A Sump. The Question Is Are Those Parts I Listed Above The Over Flow Or Do I Need One Like Melvs????? Thanks Everyone Lets Get This Plumbing Thing Figured Out!!!

You might not want to push it as close to the wall as possible because there are going to be times when you need to mess around back there.

If you're not going to drill your tank, you will need a HOB overflow. It basically draws water down into your sump. Then you will need a return pump to push the water back into the tank.

You can use hard or flexible pvc. Flex is probably easier since you won't have to mess with angles.

My advice would be to look in the gallery and check out how others plumbed their tank.
