Need Help Ultra Flex Tubing

Ok i bought about 15 feet of Ultra Flex tubing from Marine Depot so i had a little play with bends when plumbing my 120 gallon and sump.

Now the problem. I'm trying to dry fit my setup but because the way the out side surface of the flex tube i find it almost difficult to even slide it in all the way into my 45 PVC elbows. Once it even makes contact it is almost impossible getting it in all the way. The friction is just to much. Has anyone else experienced this with using the Ultra Flex tubing?

I'm trying to fit 1 inch tubing into an elbow and into the bulkhead on my trigger systems pump. Just not happening. Any tricks?

this is what i bought: http://www.marinedepot.com/Ultra_Fl...Tubing-Plumbing_Parts-FT1383-FIFTTUFP-vi.html

I have not used that exact type of flex before but the kinds I've used slipped over a barbed fitting. You could try putting the end of the pipe in some boiling water that might help good luck

Are you going to glue the fittings? If so, the flex PVC will easily slide in. I used a small section of flex & had the same problem as you until I glued it. Make sure to account for the extra amount it will move when you cut if you do use glue. The flex moved at least 3/4 inch further into the fitting when glued vs dry fit.

Are you trying to slip the 1" tubing into a standard 1" elbow? What does the ID of the elbow measure? It should measure 1-5/16"

It fits just fine I actually glued a test piece and it slips fine when the glue is added. But that does not help me when trying to dry fit everything before gluing. It will be more a guessing game gluing then hoping everything lines up just perfect. Problem is I just can't get the Ultra flex PVC to slip all the way into the fitting without using glue to help lubricate it in. Defeating the purpose of dry fitting everything so I know it will all fit perfect.

The ultra flex tubing has a slight tacky exterior making it almost impossible to 'dry fit'. Once the glue is applied, it seats properly into the fittings however.

Once it's glued it should slide all the way into the elbow. You can just measure how much that depth is and add it to your length. Even rigid PVC pipe doesn't go all the way into elbows and tees until the solvent glue is applied.
