Need help with light

I am getting MarsAqua 165W now questions is how many of those do I need for 40 gallon breeder 36x18x16 and how high do you think that need to be for best coverage

Hard to say. The light fixture isn't very big, so I doubt only one would give you the coverage you need. You might want to consider a different option if you aren't going to get 2 of those.

May go with MarsAqua 36" 300 W for the better coverage

I setup a 40 breeder for my 10 year old daughter. I placed two mars aqua 165w only because I had it lying around. You either need two 165w or one 300w in my opinion. She has started collecting lps

That should have read sps not lps.

I used two 1-in metal EMT conduit. Bent a 90 degree angle in each

BTW, the MarsAqua 300w is only 32" long, not 36". But then so are most of the other led fixtures. A 36" fixture over a 36" tank will spill too much light out the ends.
