Hey everyone, when I came home I realized my tang's eye is swollen. I also noticed he got nipped on his tail several times. I'm not sure if his eye is just a scratch or some sort of eye disease. I hope this picture helps. Thanks guys!

[welcome]

appears like popeye which is usually as you stated, a direct result of an injury.
it should heal by itself but you need to insure that there are no secondary infections and it has an unstressful environment to heal
Quarantining is highly recommended.

See my post above on melafix, One of our club members had a female clown scratch her eye in a very well maintained take and was going to wait and see if it cleared on its own, because he didn't have a QT setup and he didn't want to treat in the DT. One member who lived close offered his QT to treat in. The person came home and found the clown on her side near the top and he had some melafix which is reef safe since it contains no pharma drugs and used it as a last resort in the DT. The next morning it was up and swimming and eating and that was 3 days ago and is still improving. This is a very interesting product and I am impressed, as most things like this is usally snake oil. You need to have a QT up and running at all times for situations just like this or go together with someone in your club and get one going. I would keep an eye on it, usally popeye effects both eyes, this is probably just an infection, but I would not let it go long, look, as infection can go bad fast. If it looks worse today and tomorrow I would get it in QT, if not I would try some melafix in the nano. It has not effected his reef tank at all. If you do let us know what happens and what you think of the product. cheers

My purple tang got its eye bit by an undulated trigger. It popped out like a thimble and turned white. Figured it would never heal, but a month later it looked like the untouched eye. I didn't use any chems, nor did I have reef-quality nitrates.
