need help

I'm in need of some help from anyone I know in the Rochester area on this forum. I'm in Texas right now working and won't be home till the end of next week. My skimmer is going nuts and my wife doesn't know what to check. When she turns the output flow down so that the water level rises so that it skims properly it just oveflows like crazy. I need someone willing to go over and see what's going on with the skimmer. I'm going to put my other one back on line after I get back but I don't know if the sps will handle the water not being skimmed. So i'm asking for help. TIA...

You will be fine without a slimmer for a few days as long as you have some surface agitation. If you are worried about it have her add an air pump and stone, just make sure the air pump is above the water level in case you loose power.

Sorry I'm not closer, I would swing over.

I have lots of surface agitation in the display. I run 2 k3's at each end of the tank pointing twoards each other and angled twoards the surface. I'm just worried about losing my sps.

Something is most likely partly blocking your skimmer drain. Yor system is 110 Gal with good surface agitation, it should be fine till you get back. Just a few days right?

Thanks everyone. I had someone volunteer to come over and take a look at it for me. Im probably over reacting but I already lost a bunch of sps a few months ago and don't want to go through it again.

Have her check the air line and rinse it with warm water. Sometimes salt creep can restrict and even block it. Worth a look. Good luck!

skimmers all set, thanks to Nick(grenadeglass) for coming over. There was salt creep in the neck of the venturi where the hose connects.....
