Found this little fella this afternoon...He is about the size of a quater. So far he has only picked at rocks.. But i 'd like to find out if i need to remove him. Any ideas?

need better pics of the claws, if the tips are rounded they it i probably an emarld crab, better pics will help tho

Come on guys, look at the body shape - that''s not a Mithrax. Unfortunately the picture's only good enough to know what it isn't, not what it is. The fact that it's picking at the rocks rather than immediately going after other critters is a good sign. If you decide to leave it in your main tank just keep an eye on it & your corals to make sure everything stays okay.

that is not a mithrax crab. looks more like a gorrila crab or i guess a type of Xanthidae Crab. i have like 4-5 of these guys in my feeder tank for my mantis shrimp. i get them for about $1 at my LFS.

but to be certain a claw picture would be great.

there are at least 2 of them in that same rock. I left a piece of shrimp next to the rock they hide in and they did not touch it
I will attempt better pictures and post them as soon as I can.
