I have a few options as it pertains to my tank when I move in November, and I'm trying to decide what to do...
1.) Sell everything out of the current tank, and use the hardware to start over again.
2.) Break all of the coral off the rocks that they're mounted to, put them and about 50 gallons of my current water into a frag system running in the basement of my parent's house, and keep them in there for a few weeks while I get the system back up and running at the new house.
3.) Just try to move it all at once and keep it all mounted to the rocks as it is now.
The primary thing I'm concerned with doing #2 is that the system isn't set up to deal with this kind of volume of livestock. There definitely isn't enough room to accomodate my live rock, and even if there was, I wouldn't see the point. I could put the skimmer on the system and increase the total water until I get the other tank settled enough to transfer all of the livestock back over...I just don't want to lose everything (making #1 or a failed attempt at #2 or #3 unappealing) and I really don't want to lose everything and have nothing to show for it (making #1 more tempting.)
If it was you, based on your experiences, stories you're aware of, etc. what would you do?
