Need power center/strip suggestions

I am trying to figure out what my best option for my electrical system is. I will have 8 plugs total, 3 of which need to be on separate timers.

MH - Timer
T5's - Timer
Moonlights - Timer
return pump
2 Ph's
Fuge light
Stand light

I am trying to find a strip that will allow all this but 3 timers seems to kill my space. If I have to I will make something but that will get expensive.

Just seeing if you all know of a good option that I am over looking?

Thanks!
James

If you want to spend money, buy a controller (Apex, Reefkeeper, etc.). The cost sucks but so far I have no regrets.

If a controller's not in the budget or you just don't want a controller, these are the answer to your timer/space problem. :) I use these for several things in my system that aren't plugged into the controller but don't fit on the strip.

you could buy gang boxes that are made to hold 2 outles and only place one outlet in each box.then link the outlet boxes together.ithink that 3 four plug boxes wpould work.you place one 2 plug outlet in two of the boxes and 2 two plug outlets in the 3rd box which would give you the 8 outlets you need and should allow you to add timers to the boxes that only have one 2 plug outlet in them.hope this helps.

I agree......although it won't be very nice looking .....but at least if you go this route you can use 12 gauge wire which has a rating of 20 amps and 2400 watts or a safe 80% of the circuit will give you roughly1920 watts which is more than any store bought power strip this way you know you won't over load the strip and yes on three of the outlets you can place the timers on the bottom space of the outlet and you should still have room to place something in the top outlet......but to be honest if you keep you eyes peeled on the used section i found a used reef keeper for 80dollars that has the 8 outlets pHprobe temp probe and you don't need timers and you have so many more options that way you will be way happier trust me....if you buy everything separate to make a custom power strip your at least around 40 bucks easy Iwould go used controller....IMO

Me and my buddies went to Sam Ash music store and picked up DJ power strips. Pretty sure it comes with 8 outlets and you can turn them on/off individually. Cost under $30 bucks. It has been very helpful with maintaining my system. Hope this helps

That's what my link is to

Snake, thanks for catching the timer needed for fuge light! Also If I can find a reef
keeper for $80 used I will jump on it, its just a matter of finding that....

How does the timer work on the reef keeper? Does it individually control each outlet?

Yep the reef keeper and aqua controller apex units control each individual outlet you dont need timers u can monitor your pH and use it as a controller for temp using the temp probe it can control a fan/ heater ..believe me a controller is the way to go just keep checking the used board or just ask on the forum here by the time you buy timers a surge protected power strip you are half way there for a used controller

Every few weeks there is a Reef Keeper system for sale on the forum for under $100. I picked my RK lite up for $50 a few months ago.

I too love my reefkeeper and I got mine for $60.00. I still need to add some features to it, but I have the entry level one to control my lights, pumps and wave makers. You should also buy some of these just for those large power boxes. This should keep them from taking more than one outlet.

I found the 1ft extensions cheaper on the site below. Plus they take Paypal.
