Need Purple Stonies Pictures

yours is maybe 4-5" higher than mine... mine is directly under a 400wSE radium on pfo hqi ... maybe thats too much light

Kip,

Never seen that pic by Bennet, but that's pretty crazy color. I've asked myself the same question when i see different set ups and other pics that stand out with that amt of vibrancy. Although lighting is probably the primary contributing factor....other factors like bioload, type of fish food/coral food, Iodine, Mg supplementation also play a role. Just to keep up with my Ca/Alk demand outside of the Ca reactor i also add Kalk, CaCl2 and Reef Builder on different days of the week.

b/w mid-summer and winter... i think i ran my tank too sterile... starting febuary i have slacked on water changes, fed more, and played around with a few other things. I am seeing the results i want outta most things... just can seem to nail the purples down.

blues... i can do blue like no tomorrow... just fall short on purples.

Two of mine.

Here is a couple of old pictures that are a couple months old. Once my camera gets fixed, I'll snap some new ones.

This was one of my all time favorites. It was my first sps purchase ever. Started as a brown 2" frag at the LFS and turned into this after a couple years. Unfortuanately, I lost it in a tank crash a couple years ago and hadn't spread any frags around. I have since learned to spread everything "exotic" so it will live on if it dies in one system. Sorry this pic is so overexposed. It was one month after I got my first digi cam.

This pic shows better what it really looked like.

Here is a coral I lost due to a leather dying in my tank. This picture was taken with my old camera before I knew anything about taking pictures. Sorry for the poor quality.

I scored this baby about a month ago.

Heres my frag of tyrees Purple Unknown. Since I took this is has grown pretty good, at least enough that I got one small frag from it. It has become a darker purple also. I need to take new pictures.
