need shrimp trap

I doubt a trap would work to catch them as such shrimp do not wander about or out into the open. That and why would you want to remove them?

i want to remove them because i suspect that they're killing my emeralds. i've put emeralds in my tank several times and no matter the size they always end up dead within the week. however, i was cleaning out my overflow box and found two in there that have survived close to a month now at least. the only thing in the tank that could kill them is the pistols

charlesr1958: I'm not sure I understand where you're coming from. A baited trap is the best way to get a hitchhiking pistol or mantis shrimp out. They typically go for it at night. Has your experience been otherwise?

Also, I believe some pistols are fairly aggressive. Not the ones that people commonly buy to pair with gobies, but some of the hitchhiking ones.

What other CUC is in there? Why would they just go after the emeralds? Easier prey would make more sense, unless the Emeralds are invading their burrows...they they would defend it...both Pistols and Stomatopods. JMO

if its got claws its a pistol. and yes they are probably killing your emeralds. buy a mantis trap (a clear tube, pretty much) with a piece of krill in it. should go for that, then trade em in to a LFS for some moolah
