Just wanted to know if there is anyone local, who uses the Aquacontroller Pro III, The controller works perfect as advertised, but I am having some serious problems trying to figure out how to setup access via internet. Does Comcast Cable DSL block incoming port 80 requests? Anyone know how to configure my D-Link DI-524 router to route incoming port 4567 to port 80 of the AC's IP Address??? Anybody?

"Comcast Cable DSL". Do you have Comcast or DSL? I'm sure it's all in the router config. There should be an advanced section in the router config where you can open up port fowarding to set that up. I think the router will need an IP to forward the port to (your PC). That means you may have to set your computers IP as static. I'm no expert on this. Do you have the manual on this router still?

Hey Dan,
Thanks..sorry its Comcast broadband..
Comcast does not have static IP's available..
and yes, I still have the manual for the router....
but first I am still trying to talk to my ACIII via Ethernet cable...
this stuff is driving me crazy

what port does the ACIII want to use? Is it 80 or? If you have your comcast connection going into a router than you can assign static IPs behind the router. My server has a static IP within my home network.

If you only have one PC behind the router then it's not really a big deal to have it set static because the router will always issue the same IP everytime.

The ACIII uses port 80, yes...
and it has a web server built in with its own IP address, which can be changed if needed.

cool, thanks Dan.......that looks like that will work...and that is basically what I need to do. I am at work now, will try that when I get home.....
I appreciate the help!
Brian

no problem man. if you need more help just holler at me. wouldn't mind checkin' out the setup anyway. although I should be concentrating on finsihing my never ending tank project!! :)

It uses port 80, if you want to reach it from the internet you will need toward port 80 requests to the IP address. The AQ3 will need a static IP address on your Lan.

Thanks reefkeeps...I finally have everything working and connecting from the outside, I had to add a HTTP and a TELNET server to my wireless modem to forward to my AQIII, and change the embedded IP in my AQIII to a similar IP of the router........yes, I need to use GotDNS.com to keep a static IP. It works now until my IP lease expires.....finally....this thing was kicking my butt...

great to hear that you got it working Brian, sorry I wasn't available yesterday. My IP with comcast doesn't change very often at all which I like because I run FTP sometimes. Now that I found that gotdns, I won't ever have to worry about it. I had never heard of that

Acroholic, That's how I had to do mine, It's a 2-wire through Bellsouth. After playing around I found that enabling http server it directed right to port 80.:D
If you can't get a static IP then it's going to be hard to access it from outside computer. Mine changes every other day. It's nice to access it from work till the IP changes.
My IP stayed the same for almost a month and now it's changing everyday.
I've got to call Bellsouth and rattle their cage, because they do offer static IP.
Your going to love that AC111. I'm glad I decided to go with it also.

That's weird that it changes that often Lageo04. A friend of mine threatened to switch over to Comcast and to keep him a DSL customer they gave him a static IP for free. May be a bargaining point for you. :)

yes, bellsouth does have the static IP option, you guys are lucky in that matter....comcast does not however...I just figured out that the service from dyndns will only work if you enable the webserver on windows running 24/7 and I am not sure if I want to mess with an open webserver on windows........

Dan I upgraded my dsl speed to extreme and with that option I get a static for free. Also by upgrading I actually get my service for a lower price. I've been on dsl since I can't remember and was actually paying more for ultra then going up to extreme.
Only problem is now I have connection problems and I think evertime I have a disconnect my IP changes. I'm going to call them tomorrow and do some straightening out. Hopefully I get someone on the other line that knows what their doing!!

That's always a stuggle Lageo04!! Getting someone on the phone that actually knows more than you and can actually help.
