Nem tank size question.

Back in 2008-2011 I had a 75g mixed softie reef with a LTA and clowns. I had a heat related tank crash and put everything into storage about 4 years ago. Lately Ive been getting the urge to get back in, and want an anemone/clown species tank.

Today I took my old 75 out of storage, cleaned it up and filled it for a leak test. At some point while I was filling it, the trim cracked in two places, on the top near the center brace on the front, and on the bottom on near the middle on the back. I have decided I don't trust the tank to not give way, which brings me to my question.

I have a 40 breeder in storage also, assuming it passes a leak test would it be ok for a sand dwelling anemone, haddoni or doreensis, or should I look to a new 75?

My old 75, the green lta had been with me for over 3 years at this picture, and the red was a couple months with me, from another hobbyist.

nothing wrong with a 40gal..

I've kept carpets in 20 or 30gal QT for months when my tank was not available at the moment.

many members will contribute about their QT'd nems, some in there over an year with clowns.

smaller tank just means you have to watch the parameter more often..

Smaller tank mean it is a little harder to get stable (and easier at the same time). I am sure you know. With smaller tank take it easy on feeding the anemone to keep them from growing fast and not load on the system too much.
For Haddoni and Doreensis you will need a DSB. Likely 5+ Inches for a Doreensis to be happy and 3+ inches for Haddoni

Pretty sure I remember that pic/tank as I had a tank w/ bookended nems as well back then, but Doreensis and Crispa.
One thing I'd point out that seems to be a positive move forward for nem keepers since you were in last is to consider matching clowns to a natural host nem as they would be found in the wild, so you may consider that in helping w/ your decision as to which to keep.

Some history on the green anemone in that fts.
I bought a small brown lta from the lfs, put it in the sand at the base of a rock, and it chose to extend up through a hole in the rockwork for a while.

After a few weeks it crawled into the rocks and disappeared, I thought it had died and a month or two later replaced it with a haddoni.

Naturally, once the haddoni was well established, the LTA crawled back out of the rockwork, and chose a spot that wasnt a natural choice.

Eventually the LTA moved down to a sand bed location, but at that point it was too close to the haddoni so I removed the haddoni.
