Been keeping various anemone species (though mags mainly) for the better part of 20 years and haven't lost one to a powerhead yet.

Just had my purple haddoni get caught in my powerhead a few days ago but thank God I caught it in time and the damage was minimal. Lost a RBTA many years ago but not to a ph but an overflow.

To me, I think the keys are: (1) to observe the anemone very closely the first few days of introduction, (2) to place the nem in a location that will suit its needs (not necessarily the aquarists's preferences) and (3) to keep flow and lighting conditions consistent. If you do this, the chances of dramatic movement and associated trouble are minimal.

With mags, I agree. First week or so, keep a close eye out (I have eggcrate cages that I can use if necessary) but then as long as the tank is big enough, mature, and offers a spot designed for the anemone it's unlikely to move. Mine only ever do when they get too big for the space. Like this ....

At that point (this one exceeded 24" in diameter) it has to be moved into bigger digs.

i have 3 ritteri smashed up into puree

either mp or gyre works. will go back to wavemaker

Did any of your fish die? I had a bta that was partially shredded but nothing happened to my fish but I had a Ritteri shred and all my fish were wiped out except my clowns

mine seems very sensitive to the fluctuation of phosphate. each time my ritteri moved, there must be either some algae outbreak or recession that followed.

My Ritteri was about 2.5 feet wide decided after 2 years to move he moved into the power head. Caught him in time to only loose a little but it does happen.
