Hi Everyone,

Well it's that time of year again, NERAC is around the corner on Saturday March 24th 2012; if you are new to the club or area every year we host our own conference out at the Long Island Aquarium, we bring in 3 to 4 great speakers and plenty of vendors for you to stock up on frags and dry goods. This year's speakers include Dr. Sanjay Joshi, Tony Vargas and Peter Schmidel. We have also set up a new price plan to fit everyone's budget, admission starts at just $15!

This year we are also breaking in the new Hyatt adjacent to the aquarium so everything's in one room.

I know this is annoying, but is there an admission price for NERAC, Luch, and Dinner without paying for the aquarium admission (member already), or is there just the "All Access" price?

Correct, the speakers and vendors will be in the Sea Star Ballroom; lunch is planned to be in one of the smaller rooms across the hall with only the dinner being held inside the aquarium.

Are the vendors listed on the neracvii website the confirmed vendors for this year or is that just a list of vendors from last year that have not been confirmed for this year yet?

Chris, all of the vendors listed said they are coming but I do not know if they are confirmed.

Sal, yes you can pay at the meeting; Paypal just helps us keep track.

Hey everyone I was wondering if you have to be a member to go to the conference? And how do you become a member Im fairly new to the LIRA forums and always wanted to go to something like this so as much info as possible would be great!!!!!!

Hi Brian,

Both the conference and meetings are open to everyone, the conference is an all day event the club hosts every year at the aquarium; we bring in 3 to 4 speakers and about a dozen vendors (both live stock and dry goods) all capped of with a dinner by the reef. You can sign up for the conference at www.neracvii.com which also has the list of speakers and vendors.

Meetings are held the fist Friday of every month in Commack, just off the LIE at Wicks road, admission for non members is $5. You can join the club at the meeting or sign up on the clubs web site www.longislandreef.org.

Frag prices are usually pretty good along with a nice selection.

You'll want to use the $25 nerac with aquarium option, there is no combo for LIRA membership as well so you'll need to go the membership link on the top right of the nerac page.
