Wow. I had no idea such emulators (or should we call this a "simulator") existed. I'll check it out...

The comunication is quite complex and super flexible, Mathias was nice enought to send us some code sniplts and lead us in the right direction. If you are interested in helping out send me a PM :c)

I'd be very interested if I owned a ProfiLux! Half my controller considerations (in lieu of Ethernet/built-in Web service) are based on whether I can interface the device with a microcontroller/device server ;-)

As Michael suggested, I should consider all the things the ProfiLux can do for my tank. If I jump on board, I'll be sure to PM you.

Well just did a small test and the instaler desent seem to run but if I copy the application I can have it running... threre would be a bit of tweaking to do but I was able to connect/view/and change some settings :c)

Promising. I am sure this has been asked before, but is there an English localization of the software?

Yes everything is in English

I saw the screen shot and just waited for that question.

You can select a variety of langauges, I guess Christian is brushing up on his German today!

heheh that's one of the limitation right now, it dosent seem to save the preference... I will look at it more if I have time.

Alll these are issue are with using CrossOvern and not ProfiluxControl...

Great!

Wish I had a mac, but could never justify to myself the extra cost.

Stephen
We will eventually corrupt you to get one :P

I know you can pick up sub-$500 PCs, complete with LCD screen and input devices, but when I priced out top of the line tower models (each with the same 3.0GHz Dual Quad-core Intel, virtually the same specs) from Dell and Apple last year, the Macs were over $400 cheaper. Since we can run Mac OSX and Win XP on the Macs, the decision was a no brainer.

For me, the Macs are a great marriage between superb engineering/design, UNIX, and end user applications. I definitely appreciate the ubiquity and general cost effectiveness of Windows (and Linux) solutions, even if I slice my finger open every time I go to upgrade memory in our old PC boxes...Ouch.

What port should i remap in order to access my profilux from a distance, just tried 10001 upd and tcp without any success?

OK found out 2 thing that might be helpful for others,

1st: Only one connection to the controller can be established at any given time. (was my problem)

2nd only need port 10001 TCP needs to be mapped/redirected no need for UDP.

Hope it helps someone!

I got a 3.0GHz Dual Quad-core Intel Dell XPS desktop for about $1K, but then again, I got an employee discount on it right before I left. As much as I hate Dell, its a real nice system.

Same problem here - CrossOver 6.2 will not run the installer.

However, Darwine does (and it's free ;).

It has a few issues, most notably the save buttons don't work.

This on Leopard (v10.5).

Sounds like theseare all Mac programs. Anyone have an idea about which program(s) us PC users should consider?
