New 125AGA Setup [photo journal]

I see you got the title changed. :)

As for Tangs. I have read that similar shapes or similar colors are prone to problems. Especially if one is introduced first. I had a YT that got very territorial. He would attack any fish that was introduced. He went back to the store. I now have an Orange Shoulder and a Lavender and they get along great.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestion!
I'm thinking about getting a sailfin tang or an orange shoulder...

I am really happy with my Orange Shoulder. He looked pretty dull under the fish store lights, but under my MHs he is bright yellow with blue fin edges and the orange spot. He is very peaceful and active.

I am thinking about getting an Octopus Calcium reactor... Anyone have any experience with them? They seem to be setup very much like that of the Korralin except they have a much bigger media chamber.

Any thoughts?

How have you been dosing calcium and alk. Looks like you have some nice sps in there that hack away at those levels. I have a MRC duel calc reactor set up on my 125g that is heavily sps stocked and it keeps the levels dead on.

I've been using the two part for alk/pH and Calcium called Ocean's Blend... I go through the gallon mix pretty quickly, that's one of the main reasons I'm looking to switch...

I've been looking at the MRC-2 but for $199 the Korralin knockoff (Octopus) I saw looks like a good deal!

FishyRen,
Did you get a calc reactor?
Are you pleased with your Dolphin pump? I just bought a used tank with an ampmaster 3000. It leaks where the shaft goes into the casing. Has yours leaked or have you noticed calcium buildup or salt creep?

I did get a calcium reactor (MRC-2) but I haven't hooked it up yet (still need to get a CO2 tank)
I've also hooked up a phosban reactor as well to try to keep the Phosphates down.

I've liked my AM3000 so far pretty well- I put a high friction carbon seal on it (from dolphin).
It leaked pretty bad for a few minutes so I took it apart and put a little petrolium jelly on the seal and tightened it down a little better.
Turned it on and haven't had a drop since. I've been pleased with it so far- seems to be a good workhorse- It's almost full blast in the tank (3 outlets) and on full blast on my beckett modded skimmer. It also has a low flow line to my phosban reactor and will also have a line to the calcium reactor...

Other than that I only have one Rio Sieo and one Tunze Stream in the tank.

Don't know if anyone has said this already but the little green pieces of algae in the picture with the acro frag are called........Neomeris sp. Algae....Its in the family Dasycladaceae......it shows up on new live rock most of the time. It does do a small amount of cacification. Neomeris is one of the species in this family that needs intense light to survive(your metal halides). I have had a few in my tank from time to time. They are neat and don't harm anything and don't spread too rapidly.

HTH!
