New 240 Gal Reef Tank purchasing advice

Does anyone know where to a 240 Euro braced glass low iron front tank locally? I have got a few quotes from manufactures outside of AZ but shipping is a killer. I am guessing some stores can get me quotes from manufactures, but from you all as consumers do you honestly think anyone can beat $2681.25? That is with shipping to my door.

I am looking to purchase my stand from midwest custom. Does anyone know that can do custom aquarium stands locally around the same price (Stand must be 42" tall and at least 4-5" trim around the tank as a armrest and mini bar). I got a rough estimate of just under $2,000 but that is without shipping.

What do you all think or recommend?

That is probably a good price. I paid $1800.00 from a fish store for a custom Lee Mar 240 gal glass tank over 10 years ago. shipping is always a killer.

Or if you are patient, you can always wait until someone with a similar sized tank decides to sell theirs. It is always a matter of timing.

Just curious why glass? I would never do anything 8 foot in glass, just my opinion. I know the fear of scratching in acrylic, but so much lighter, clearer, and stronger seams.

Contacting Aquarium Arts today seem what their quotes look like.

I have been looking for a tank similar in size for 3 months now, but after going through 4 different used systems. I felt that i could treat my self to buying a new tank. Used is still not out of the question. Someone just sent me a pm of a great used acrylic tank that I might pursue.

The reason I like glass is purely comfort level with only owning glass tanks in the past. Acrylic makes me nervous for the scratching from OTHER people not myself. I have people come over all the time to look at my tank and if they are wearing rings extra it could easily scratch it. Yes they can all be buffed out but when doing maintenance it always runs the risk of scratching the inside. Its not a matter of IF but WHEN. It is has been such debate in my head whether to go glass or acrylic and still truly undecided.

If you do go acrylic, consider Mark at SW Seas, he has a guy named Dom that does fantastic work. He did both mine. Dom has been building tanks in the valley for 30+ years.

Does anyone have photos of a stand made by the owner of aquarium arts? Any have opinions on them? Spidermann I know you advocate for them anyone else?

I bought my tank, stand and canopy from AA. I liked the stand and canopy so much I had stone creek build my office desk and hutch to match it. Not an exact match but pretty close. JP

Yes I do have picture of a tank and stand that aquarium Arts made PM me for pictures not sure how to post them here yes Dominic also makes acrylic tanks but he's pretty hard to get a hold of

I have an AA stand and it is extremely nice, I can vouch for the quality. Also he can build it to specific heights per your request. i needed alot of space under the stand so had a nice tall one built.

Sorry for the potato quality, old pics from phone. 72 inch wide tank for scale. I see your location is Flag, but if you are ever in East Valley, no substitute for going into the store and seeing some of the stands and quality up close and in person.

This picture doesn't show the entire stand or canopy, but hopefully you can get a feel of the nice wood work. Not sure if I have any pictures of just the stand or canopy. This was when I had just set it up and started moving stuff over from my nano tank. JP

Thank you. They look great. I am surprised whipping boy that he did that with 4x4s or 4x6s. Or at least it looks like that. So used to day stands built to hold a truck. This was a custom build correct or you guys just bought them at AA?

Mine was a custom build. What you cant see is the 2 x 6 inch piece going across the back just underneath the stand and supporting the rear portion. Any bigger of a tank and i would have gone with a steel stand.
