new 90 gallon pic.........

Slave to the reef!
Here we go, got the light in today. Im gonna drill it tonite and make a calfo style overflow for it. After drilling i will be painting the back black to match the overflow. Jason G will be helping make a new stand on Sunday. Then its time to empty the 25 gallon.

Should be a fun weekend!!!

Heres a pic of what i got so far.

I would cover the back of the tank. I think unless your tank is setup to utilize natural light it is most likely just going to cause algae outbreaks more frequently. Also it looks like the tank is pretty much up against the wall which would limit the ability to clean the back of the glass as often as using sun plus reef lighting would need. JMO!

Just got done drilling the tank, i did 3 holes for 1" bulkheads, painted teh back fo the tank black and made the overflow. Now, i just gotta silicone it in........

That's not quite what I was getting at. Why block a window? (btw, think that whole "natural sunlight causing algae" is BS)

thank you I don't see a big umbrella over the ocean blocking the sunlight.lol

Natural sunlight is the best for all marine life but it isn't always easy to use for our tanks. It's a wide spectrum of light with more in the red/yellow area than many use in reef ligthing. That promotes growth, good and bad. Unless your tank is very low in nutrients the algae will use that and you will be cleaning glass more often and probably have more on the rocks.
