Arrived 5 days ago from Coral Reef (sustainable aquatics store front).
Currently in my 75 gal QT by itself. Ate right away and has continued to do so. However, the end of day 1, it started to show signs of ich. But it went away by the next day. The Coral Reef said they never saw any ich.
Here is my thought. ..I have a hippo tang, which I've owned for over 3 years. He had ich early on in a 125. I placed him into a 75 and treated with copper and no more ich. I let the 125 go fallow for 90 days. He went back into the 125, then broke out with ich again briefly. I treated the 125 with copper again and all good. He hasn't had an outbreak since. 8 months ago, I lost 4 angels due to not QT a new goldflake, who brought velvet with it. The hippo was covered, and i thought a gonner...But he bounced right back. He is pretty tolerant and durable. Fast forward...i took down the 125, placed the hippo in the 75, set up a 300 and hippo is now in the 300. The AT is in the 75 now
Could the hippo (although showing no signs) still have ich, which the AT caught on day from being in the same water in the 75 as the hippo was in?
Anybow, the Achilles hasn't shown any other signs of ich. So far he really eats nori, pellets, mysis and spirulina. I havea jebao wp 20 in there with him as well. Do I treat and possibly cause issues, or not treat, but have an outbreak later? For now, I'm just feeding him often.
AlThe AT is an awesome fish so far.
Pics are a little blurry. I hate having to resize each 1 before i post it here. How do you guys post full size pics?
