New Additions - Dendros

I'm officially hooked on NPS, at least the Large Polyp variety. I got my order from Todd at Cherry Corals Friday morning and was surprised after opening the box. I ordered one of the smaller Fathead Dendros on the site and was expecting one adult (1"+ head) and few babies. Opened up the insulated cooler to see two bags, both with Dendros. After wondering if he made a mistake and sent me the wrong order, I checked my e-mail to find a message from him saying that he couldn't find the exact one that I ordered from the site and decided to toss in two to make up for it and Merry Christmas. Although this is only my second order from order, I've been impressed with his prompt response to emails and overall quality of coral. Some companies just get it.

Here are some pictures from Friday after only being in the tank about 5-6 hours. The color is really amazing.

Lots of babies down the sides on the second one.

Fed them Mysis Feast along with the rest of the tank and they look even better today. Going to be a lot of fun feeding and watching these grow out even more.

Starting to make a nice NPS section....hopefully to take overall the whole tank. Can't wait to add the Sun Coral along side these and the Rhizo. Color's a little out of whack on this one but it's quite the beautiful section of my reef now.

All I can say is WOW:inlove:....here's mine I got from Reefs2go November 21st, day before Thanksgiving...$39.99....has yet to open. The orange in mine is getting less and less. I take it out nightly and feed it frozen cyclops, etc., but I really don't see it consuming anything. My little dendro measures just a little over a 1/4inch in diameter. You are so lucky! What a wonderful gesture on their part....I am checking out Cherry Corals now!

Thanks for the compliment. Sorry to hear that your Dendro hasn't been doing all that well. When you take it out in the evening to spot feed, does it's tentacles come out at all? If not, it's likely not getting the food that it needs. It's worth asking around here to see what others suggest but you may want to try placing it in a cup of tank water and dropping a cube of mysis in with it and let it thaw. That way the "juices" should entice it out and then it will eat whatever has thawed. It's worth a shot.

I'd definitely e-mail Todd and get one of his Dendro. You won't be disappointed. Just so you know, he only has about 15-20% of his stock actually on his website so it's always worth e-mailing him to see what he may have hiding out.

Nice dendros! Would love to own a rhizo. I have a mini colony of 15 dendro heads.

Post up a pic of your mini Dendro colony!! Would love to see what it looks like. Check my other thread for my suggestion on hunting down a Rhizo.

Looking good!
What camera set-up are you using?

Canon 40D w/17-40mm and a bit of fill flash with a hot-shoe mounted Sigma. Sometimes I don't use the fill and other times I need to to get rid of some of the blue that the sensor captures from the LEDs. Always fun/challenging to try and get it to match real-life.
