it is elephant ears. igot it from the fish place in tonawanda the orange in my tank is sponge

They are nice. They are one of the largest growing types. Thus, the common name "elephant ear" for the size and sometimes unusual shape they can get.

You can try to feed it a couple times per week.

Anemone like, it will often fold itself over it's center mouth when capturing larger sized bits of food.

In case you did not know-
Word of Caution:
Often not a problem, however it has been known to "take" small fish that may lazily sit on it. Or often- a small "clownfish" though not lazy, will get tricked into thinking it is harmless. It may or may not care. But specimens of it have been known to fold over on the unsuspecting clown, trapping the poor thing.

Then it will eat and slowly digest the fish. Just something to watch for. Depending on what fish you keep.

If you ever have clowns, I just suggest getting them a host anemone. They'll most likely ignore hosting anything else then. Just as a precaution.

Small gobies or other types of small fish that slowly move around, investigate and stop on things as a natural habit "could" fall victim the same way. If the "elephant ear" is really hungry.

But lots of people keep them even with fish. Just something to manage, like anything else.

Just curious- as already asked,
where did you get them?

Your in Tonawanda, so.. Saltwater Paradise?
or A Reef Creation?

I've seen Randy at ARC have them for sale a few different times.
Once, he had some that were 6 inches or more across!!!

this one about 7" across i got it at the fish place in tonawanda.i do have a large anemone and large frog spawn 6 heads and a 9 head hammer

not trying to start an argument or create drama but those green corallimorphs (known around here as a "Johnny special") are not the fish eating elephant ear mushroom Amplexidiscus fenestrafer and I've never heard of one of them taking fish.

No worries. No arguments. ;)

Elephant ears do eat fish Gary. However, I must be honest. Without getting too detailed with it- I'm just going by what robkoi has called "elephant ear".

If that is actually what he has. It looks like it is one. There are some different ones and though I have not seen specific species breakdowns, many people have reported their "elephant ears" eating fish. Including clowns.

It may be some don't, some do. I didn't research the specific species in this case.

BUT there are lots of accounts, without getting species specific, of the mushroom anemone corals called "elephant ears" eating fish.
I remembered hearing about this before and after I read robkois post, did a "search" out of curiosity.

Without quoting something specific, do a "search" like on google or another search engine. Use title "Elephant ear eating fish". Many accounts will come up to look at. Some on other "reef sites" like 3 reef and monster fish keepers.

It can be confusing.. When people use the same common name term for several different species in some cases.

According to Julian Sprung,
there are many kinds (Variations that is) of the one you mention Gary.
"Amplexidiscus fenestrafer"
and some of them even look a lot like different Discosoma & Rhodactis species
even though they are not. So, it is hard to tell sometimes.
