New AI Nano

Thats a sweet look. I like it much better on the arm looks better not to mention I have a feeling over time the heat would mess with the plexi

10% was a good starting point. I'm up to 25% on whites, 35% on Blue, and 40% on Royal Blue, and don't think I will go too much brighter. I have tested with new SPS frags and they bleach out at those numbers in a few days. Then I bring them down and start moving them back up. 10% always is great for low/mid light corals but not light demanding ones. I will be posting pictures up soon enough.

Looks really nice Mike! :) What is the light spread on the nano? I have a tank that’s 24" L 16" W and 8" tall... just wondering what would be the most efficient route to go if I was to upgrade to LED :D Keep in mind that I only have and plan to have softies and LPS, no SPS.

The light spread on this fixture is quite small. You don't want to use this light over anything probably bigger than 18"x18". Yes, I'm sure people will prove that you could but at 6" above my tank it has an even spread of about 11"x13".

Got it, so Mike would you say that getting 1 AI Sol blue would be the way to go given my tanks dimensions then?

Also, I am not too familiar with the true intensity of the LEDs and I know that AI uses high quality LEDs... so with that said, I was wondering would it be an overkill for LPS and softies because tanks height is 8" (of course I would be able to adjust the height of the fixture)

With 8" of water and the spread to cover your tank you probably won't want to bring the LED's past 50% and you would want to start out around 25%. It gives you complete control on blue/white look to your aquarium and intensity.

Thanks Brian, I do love it over my system. I couldn't have picked a more perfect light for me.

No problem at all Alex! Here are some updated photos for everyone! I do a 1 gallon water change every Tuesday and Friday and the levels are pretty constant....for now!

Salinity-1.026
pH-8.1-8.3
Amm-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-<5
Alk-8.4-8.9dKh
Cal-440ppm

Most of my corals are rescue corals and are coming back nicely. Others are in good shape and are doing extremely well in my system. I'm looking to get an Ecotech Vortech mp10 on the tank.

Looks Great! I am considdering the AI Nano for my 7g bowfront. I read somewhere that when using the light controls, when the timer turns the lights off at the end of the night, when they come back on in the morning, you need to reset the % of light again. Is this true or does it stay set once you set the light percentage? Also, the trim/moulding on my tank is 1/2" wide. Will the mount fit or will I have to rig something up? You'd think that AI would come up with a better mount to make it more universal for tanks that are not only rimless.

Thanks! I haven't had any issues with the timers resetting on me even once. I set mine and I only increase the percentage a bit every week. The mount should fit, you may have to rig something up, a small shim. I do with AI would have figured out they needed a nice classy looking mount but I guess this works....lol. It looks good with my tank but I don't think it would be nice with rimless systems.

Thanks for the info, Mike. I'm torn between the AI Nano and the Coralife Mini t5; two completely different lights . I am primarily torn between which one will grow coral better... asthetics aside. So far, I think the T5s will. But the jury is still out.

Well I don't like to make judgement calls unless I see the facts first hand(personal experience). T5's have always done an amazing job for me and have proven time and time again. The reason why I did this light obviously was because the tank was so small but also because I can use this light for bigger, deeper aquariums. I love small systems with any lighting! lol

I think I'm almost at my limit here. I'm pushing space and I plan on fragging things once everything starts taking off!

I am so in love with this setup. Everything is doing well and I'm just starting to see my absorption rates for calcium go up but I do not have to dose quite yet. I'm starting to look into doing some type of auto dosing system down the road. Doing a drop or two manually won't hurt either! Right now the water changes are sufficient enough. I'm starting to see some encrusting of the older frags and the run down ones have started to color up very well. YES! LED LIGHTS DO GROW CORALS!! lol. Just make sure they aren't junk...haha.

Cheers everyone!

Didn't know you were doing SPS. This thread just kicked up a notch! When my tank grows in, I'll hook you up. Still owe you for babysitting

I think my tank will fill up quicker than yours Mark. lol You have just a tad more room in yours than I do. The top half consists(as you can see) of SPS and the bottom half is all of Florida Ricordea. I may try to squeeze in a Red Planet frag for shoots and giggles.

setting up another tank in my room and considering getting one. I probably shouldn't even consider putting this over my 4g pico, but I am :D
