Wife and I took a dive and got this beauty. We did some research but are still rookies. Well established tank 150g display 40b sump. Carx, ph fluctuates around 7.8-8.3 throughout day, temp 77-78, salinity 1.026, alk 7.9-8.2.

Lighting is ati t5 with two kessil supplemented. Wanting feedback on placement and health of anemone. She looks like she's finally settled down but for a while looked like it was gonna croak!!

Do you mean you literally scuba dived and got this Anemone? Where do you live?

Her coloring is beautiful though. Was she really sticky when you handled her? These nems tend to be very sticky when healthy to the points her tentacles will come off in your finger when you pull away (not always though)

Haha. I wish! We live in NC. But no. Not diving. She was super sticky when we handled her to acclimate and place in the tank.

I sold this setup last summer. It was a 65 gallon Red Sea. I'm building my 240 peninsula now. Will make a build thread when tank arrives at end of month.

I would not feed it right away. You only need to if your looking for growth. Your fish will avoid the anemone, but if they come in contact the anemone will win. I have a 10" haddoni in my tank and no one has yet to go into it. My honest fear is if I approach the tank too quickly and one is startled, and therefore runs into it. Regardless its not hunting your fish. How is the mouth looking now that it has been in there a few days

I would not feed yet. The mouth is still not fully closed all the time.

how is the flow? Haddoni doesn't like flow. I would dig a hole in sand under the rocks and place the foot there. it shouldn't sit on top of sand

It has dug its foot all the way through the sand.

We actually moved some rocks from that corner specifically for the Nem since there is very little flow!

I'll hold off on feeding it until the mouth is closed all the time

Good to know!

The mouth is closed more than 50% if not more of the time now. So we'll see how it fairs without food for a longer period of time

that's good! when they can dig their foot into the rockworks, it's a good sign.

if the mouth remain open (1st, 2nd, 4th picture) for a week, I'd consider Cipro treating.

feeding anemone will make it grow FAST. it will catch enough food from feeding usually.

As for the mouth I don't think there is a concern as it still looks like it has control of it and it is not loose. Its common for a haddoni to have somewhat of an open mouth. This guys mouth was usually always open, but the tissue/muscles were always tight and not floppy.

Awesome. Thanks fellas!!!! We just love the stunning green color of this beauty! Almost a week with it in the tank and it hasn't moved and seems to be doing ok. I feel if we make it maybe a week and a half or two without issues we're in the clear. Thats my amateur nem keeper thought!

Very nice. He seem healthy enough. They like a little thicker sand but some may tolerate minimal sand also. If not deep enough he may move around looking for deeper sand. Nice color

Pictures are misleading. We have close to 3" sandbed. She has dug and burrowed her foot. Think this is enough sand?

3 inches should be fine
