new anemone dungeon questions

Have a few questions actually. Got an anemone from a friend of mine last night on an impulse. He acquired it in a tank breakdown purchase the week before. Supposedly, it's some sort of bubble tip. I wasn't really open much when I got it and was attached to a rock. Once in my tank, it proceeded to leave that rock behind and travel down and behind another large rock. Today, it's in the same area and completely closed.

Ok, I know it has to get used to its surroundings and decide where it wants to be, but is it normal for it to be closed?? I plan to leave it alone unless suggested to do otherwise. It's not really getting light where it is either. Will it be ok without light? Will it eventually go to light? I'm sure it's had a traumatic couple of weeks and am just looking for advice to help speed his recovery and hopefully make him a happy addition to my tank.

He's in a most difficult place to photograph, but I can describe it as... having a base roughly 2" in diameter and 1.5" tall and white in color. As far as the tentacles, Seem reddish/brown in color of unknown length or shape due to it not being open. Lame description I know but I will do my best. No experience what-so-ever with anemones but like to think that I'm reasonably intelligent and capable of figuring things out with proper guidance and research. Just hoping to have some help/advice from you guys/girls.

Thanks in advance

Pics. Sorry for quality. Using my wife's point and shoot...

Turned the rock slightly to expose it. It was pointing down in the dark but turned up to the light right away. The very ends of the tentacles have a bright pink dot. The overall shape is almost a 3 leaf clover shape and not just round. An ID would be interesting to allow me to further my research on this little guy without asking stupid questions.

Thanks.

Is it just me, or does it look like it's trying to divide?

You might have two BTA's before you know it. Leave the nem alone until it settles somewhere that makes it happy. Then feed it a little mysis or a small piece of silverside.

I've left it alone except for turning the rock a bit. It seems to be fine where it is. I did offer it a mysis while feeding fish and it ate it right away. Guess that's a good sign that it will eat. I'm keeping my eye on it for the time being and doing quite a bit of research. Interesting little guy. It's more of a green color so far. Anyway, thanks and hopefully all goes well with it.

It's still alive. It moved around alot before settling on a rock at the top of the tank. It's getting huge considering I don't directly feed it. It's 6-8" in diameter now swelled up and I'm sure will outgrow the tank. It's pretty cool though and I'm enjoying it. I have a big hermit that stays under it during the day and comes out at night. Clowns don't know it exists. Neato.

Wow! That's a huge improvement from the first pic. Good work.

Yes, terrific improvement since first photo was tanken. The tentacles have lengthened and the color has improved. That is a beautiful bta you got there, you should be very proud.
Good Job : )
