So I picked up this anemone the other day cuz it was perfect for my Nano. It is very small probably 2 inches when fully open, it has a beatiful red color and seemed very healthy.

After letting it get settled for 2 days I fed it. I turned off the filter and let the powerhead move around some mysis and brine shrimp. The anemone quickly grabbed several pieces and ate them with gusto, tentacles were very sticky. Now it's been closed up for the last 2 days. It's really puffy still but you can't see even one tentacle it is closed up so tight. Any advice

Looks to me like a Waratah anemone, or Actinia tenebrosa. It is a temperate water anemone from south Australia and New Zealand. They require cooler water to thrive - less than 75 just to survive and 70 or lower would be preferred.

It is a non photosynthetic anemone that requires on-going feeding to survive.

+1 it's a waratah. If your tank temp is too high it'll lose it's color and look washed out over time. And they close up if they don't like the setup so it might be too warm. Check it at night and see if it's open in the dark. Also, I have some that will open if they are hit with a little extra flow. Like 5 minutes before feeding, I blow on them with a turkey baster and they open up. Also, I think they live in tidal areas, so it may want more flow just in general.

Once it is happy, you may still need to feed it every other day to make it stay open.
