Nice! Did you get a tracking number yet? :D

Do you gave any photos of the heater chamber? Will any heater fit in there?

That's an outstanding question. According to the instruction manual:

Any heaters, up to 250W, can be installed in the designated heater column. Make sure that the suction cups and clips (included with your heater) are securely installed to hold the heater in place. The heater should not touch any of the walls of the skimmer.

However, let me verify the height of the heater column so that you have a point of reference. We'll probably shoot a video about this skimmer as well once the Memorial Day madness concludes.

I'll follow up shortly. Thanks for your patience!

The chamber measures 14.5" tall to the lid. The water baffle inside is 12.5" tall and therefore this will be the operating water level inside the heater chamber.

Thanks! I am very exited about this feature.

We are, too! It's one of the cooler features of the skimmer and will save a lot of hobbyists space to do other things inside their back filter chambers.

X-C-ellent! How do you like it so far? Did you place a heater inside?

It's a very well built unit, pretty quiet too. I did not put the heater in the skimmer. That feature is of no benefit for me.

That's awesome. Glad to hear a positive review. About one more paycheck and I hope to do the same. So sick of my present skimmer. The micro bubbles are so bad I have resorted to running it only at night. *smh*

Hey MD. What's the deal with the HOB-1? Seems everyone has been out of stock for a while without any definitive info about replenishment. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am thinking of upgrading my heater at the same time and was looking at the Eheim Jager. Maybe the 125w or the 150w. (56g tank) The water level in the skimmers heater chamber is 12.5", and I would assume you need around 0.5" of clearance from the bottom of the chamber. Both these heaters total length is too much for the skimmer, but what is the submersible water level of the heaters? I can’t tell from any pictures. Will they fit with the operating end above water?

Curious too. It was supposed to be a couple of days and now 3-6 months!?

Thank you for your patience. The overwhelming popularity of the HOB-1 has made it extremly difficult to keep in stock. However, the good news is we heard from AquaMaxx our next shipment should arrive the week of 6/16 and it will contain 167 HOB-1's. We'll be able to fulfill all current backorders and even have some leftover for sale.

I've been looking at the HOB-XC for my setup for a few months now. I was just wondering if it will fit on the side of my sump. I use a normal 10 gallon tank for my sump and I think the upper rim of it is about 10 1/2 inches high. The manual for the HOB-XC has diagrams with dimensions, but the one dimension it doesn't show is the distance from the bottom of the unit to the hooks used to hang it on the side of the tank. I'm also relatively new to marine aquariums, so if there's a reason that it would be better to have this on my main tank instead of my sump, I'd love to have that input.

Hi Ringram74,

One issue of installing the skimmer in your sump is the water level: which must be 4" or less from the rim of the aquarium/sump. Any lower than 4" from the rim, the skimmer will not be able to draw water smoothly and the skimmer will not perform correctly.

The measurement from the bottom of the skimmer to the bracket is 10 3/4".

In most applications, it'll need to be hung on the main tank.
