New Asfur Angel

Update

Update

I finished the round of prazi and cupramine on the Asfur. I then did a 50% water change, waited two days, and did another. The rest of the copper has been removed with cuprisorb. It took about a week after the meds were gone, but he is eating again!! One day he just decided he was hungry and has been wolfing everything down since. He went a full 2 weeks without food, gave me a bit of a scare.

I haven't seen any of the white filmy spots on him since a few days before stopping treatment. While I don't want to go through that again, I know he will probably need another round if medication since I had to cut the original dosage short.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I agree... don't do anything, just leave it in QT. If anything is around, it'll show up within a couple months. After that, move it over.

That's what I was hoping to hear, will do. He's going to be in qt for at least another 8 weeks anyway.

Asfur is doing fantastic now, he's an incredible eater and has his personality back.

Here's a short video of him eating (may want to turn your volume down a little, ambient noise from the pumps comes off loud in the video):

I really like the Asfur, just a stunning fish. Had one a few years back to help control Majano anemones and he mowed 'em all down ..... unfortunately ate all my zoos too though :(

Angels > Zoas ;)

Most of my corals are pretty angel safe, and he was living in a reef for years before I got him. Fingers crossed!

Angels > Zoas ;)!

HAH! Depends, I suppose, on how much one paid for the latter and how many years one invested in growing them :) My Asfur cleared a 180 of almost 5 years of zoo growth in about a month. At that point I was firmly in the Angels < Zoos camp. Of course, I never learn. Looked at your pictures and thought 'well, maybe, just one small Asfur - what harm could it possibly do'

My pictures? Whoops...

Yeah, I would have removed the zoas at that point (or at least what was easily accessible). Angels and zoas/fleshy LPS are a recipe for disaster.

Interestingly, I have a good sized colony of pink and golds that my past angels have had no interest in. We'll see what the Asfur thinks....
