New black marks on underside

Hi,

I just noticed this row of black marks on the underside of my female ocellaris.

I don't think it is black ich; those spots are smaller.

She has been swimming around some tight spaces in my live rock. Could these spots be bruising from the rock?

Has anyone ever seen this before?

Eric

Those look like coral/zoanthid stings to me. Chances are your clown beds down in one of the cnidarians in your tank, the torch coral, xenia, zoas or mushrooms. All those things tend to leave little stings that turn into black spots. They are a basically like little bruises and will go away on their own. Your clown may build up an immunity to the stings or he may get the spots on and off for a while.

i agree with phender. my clowns host in a colony of zoanthids. they have black marks all over them but they don't seem to mind. their lips are even black, they are too cute....
