new blue gigantea

65g Ritteri Tank
I just wanted to add my pics of my new haddoni.

Just recieved it today from Pacific East Aquaculture. The anemone shipped VERY healthy..mouth closed, and was attached to the bottom of the plastic bag. I highly recommend them. They called and made sure that the anemone arrived safely. It attached to the rock almost immediately after being introduced to the system.

How it looks when I back up a little bit. Its front and center in the tank, its really on spotlight as one of the main attractions in the tank.

it does have really long tentacles. I thought gigs had colored spots under the disk..this anemone has no colored spots. Unless I didnt look correctly. Even better if its a Gig..i heard they are hard to find healthy

At first glance I thought it looked more like a gig then a haddoni but was waiting for the experts to say something. Looks nice and healthy.

comparing pictures with other anemones...i think it is a gigantea

Can't really tell unless we see the column. When anemones are acclimating in a new environment they can take on all kinds of strange appearances. I have seen haddonis that initially looked very much like giganteas until they settled in, and then they never looked like a gigantea again.

The blue was indeed a gigantea, which I believe we had overlooked to posted specifically when we had it up on our site. The pink/red and the purple were haddoni.

Taylor,

awesome for you, a gigs is even better. IMHO, a healthy blue gigs has much more value than a blue haddoni b/c it is extremely hard to find such a healthy one. you need to give it alot of flow as they need it to help dispurse and discard the waste.

good to know...and yea, I find myself extremely lucky to get such a happy anemone. He gets good flow right now...I'll just have to crank up the vortech to high. the SPS love it when i do that anyway.

I know right, if any mods are reading I'd like them to

yes the anemone is doing very well still. It looks a little awkward at night, it like extends away from the rock..but the foot still holds tight. I'll feed it tomorrow when the main lights come on. I know my clownfish love it.

I can't change it myself, but passed on your request.
