Not good, but they have survived such a thing.
Keep an eye on its mouth for fillaments. If it starts to come appart and turns it's stomack contents outwards it will die.
But if it starts to take them back inside he will survive, a split will usualy follow this trama.
Do a water change NOW to make sure that your water is clean and fresh and keep an eye on him, usually this will go into hiding to heal so watch for any deterioration of his mouth and good luck to you.

Ahhh, he has moved out of it, good sign, click my little red house for what to use to cover the intake and information on its care after this sort of thing happens.
He looks to be a bit shocked but ok. I bet you a dollar to a donut he survives and will do just fine.
Now cover that intake asap.

Now that iÃ"šÃ‚´ve seen the other photos there i feel quite stupid. I shouldÃ"šÃ‚´ve thought myself of covering the intake beforehand...
Tomorrow iÃ"šÃ‚´ll get some piece of that plastic grating.
The little fellow is retracting itself under the next bit of stone - i really hope it will recover.

Vol, you are one of the lucky ones, as you can see by my pictures they can get torn all to pieces, yours just had the top part sucked into it.
He is attached to a rock and will do just fine I bet.
You can get that material at walmart for .49 a sheet. Just cut it to fit down into your gravel and up over the unit then it cuts down on the amount of suction thru the long grates.
Post pics in a day or so to let us know how he is doing ok.
