new bta need help

ok i was given bta by a friend. I did the whole 1hr drip aclime.. etc and it was open for about 1hr then it shrived up and looked like it was letting out poop (brown stringy stuff and lumps). Then it just let go and stayed upsidedown in the sand. i picked it up and placed it between 2 rocks. it slowly dropped down to the base of the rock and then seemed to open up heres the pic.

later on that night it srunk down and i left it for the night. When i woke up it was attached sort of with its disk in the sand. it inflated the disk but not the tenticals still facing at the sand. I thought i would leave it for abit and it crept slowly to the back of the rock. I was worried as it was quite bleached and not eating so i got it out gently. it had a very slight sting to it. and placed it in a container floating in the tank.

I made sure there is flow going through. It has sat for the day with just the disk inflated and stringy tenticals. then it shrunk up to this just now.

im worried its not fully inflating but i think that could be the lights being to strong for it ? in its bleached state. Im also worried it wont eat. what do you think i should do?

should I have left it in the rocks if its not eating? should I force it to stay under the lights or keep it in shade?

If it inflates again try feeding it some krill

what kind of lighting do you have for it? i noticed you said you put it in a container ... hopefully you let it out by now. just make sure the powerheads are covered, and you should just let it back in the tank and let it find its own niche, wherever that may be. it's still adjusting to its new home, and probably won't want to eat. When i get a new anemone, I usally let it adjust for about 2 days before attempting to feed it anything. Good luck!

ok it back in the tank.

My lighting is T5 i do have a halide i could use but im not sure what would be best as the halide is 20000k.

yeah, i'm thinking putting it back i nthe tank would be less stressful for it, because they like to have its foot anchored to rock. i've never had experience with T5's before, so I'm not quite sure about those, but just IME, I've actually never even had luck w BTA's under just PC's, even though most people say their BTA's do ok under them. I have mine under a 10,000K MH + PC light fixture, and it's thriving so far. (So as you can see I'm kinda leaning toward the MH end here!) But if you think it's too much light, you could start off with just a few hours, and then gradually increase the time.

Just outta curiosity, also, how big is your tank? And what're the inhabitants? (Just wondering if maybe you might have critters picking on it as well ... any clowns trying to harass it?) Also, was the anemone in pretty bad shape when you acquired it? I remember you mentioned something about bleaching ... well, keep us posted and hopefully some others here will chime in

Let it run its course then blend some food in place it in a Turkey Baster then slowly let it out to feed.

You need to make sure you have enough light and take your time. Moving it is not a good Idea I would recheck water perameters and let it settle out more.

tank is ten gallons with 78 watts of T5 6500k daylight and 12000k blue

have the option to change it to a de 150watt 20000k halide that i have spare.

ammonia = 0

nitrite = 0

nitrate = 10

tank is just over a year old home to clean up crew and my pair of Amphiprion nigripes. other than that there is gsp mushrooms and zoos. the clowns dont host it yet so cant see anything annoying it.

the bta seems to be transparent in patches, white, in others and some brown patches, with a over all green hue to it.

i wouldnt say its in good health from when i got it. ive had it 3 days now. ive noticed the tenticles wont inflate just the base and the disk.

ok day 3 hes seemed to go into a small cave and ball up

also it seems to be puffing up its mouth and placing a small section of deflated tenticals over it. I wonder if its feeding but im not sure what on. It seems to shy away from any light atm.
