New BTA owner... some ?'s

I bought a BTA on Monday and I just have a few questions:

1. The anemone seems to "hide", he's found a crevice and stays there and I can't really see him very well. The question is, is there any way to "make" him come out? Is there a reason he could be hiding like this?

2. Stupid question of the century, does his foot grow or just the tentacles? (I don't know if tentacles is the right word, but it sounds right)

3. I got a lot of info from my LFS, whom I really trust, but I just wanted some more information so anything I should know would really help me a lot. I have a 55 gal with an aquatic life T5 HO four lamp fixture that run about a 10 hour cycle a day with the white lights on for 7 of those 10 hours. I have a Rena canister filter and a HOB protein skimmer, I converted from freshwater which is why the tank is not drilled. The tank has been set up for about two months. My other concern is that my two Ocellaris clowns seem to want to host it but they don't really know what to do since not much of it is showing, could this be a problem to?

Like I said, I am new to anemones and I really could use all the info I could get. Thanks in advance. :fun2:

Did you acclimate it to your lights? It may be hiding in a crevice because it is not use to your lights. They like to have their foot in a crevice and reach towards the light. It is not reccomended to have an anemone in a tank that new. I would either take it back or really stay on top of water changes and testing your water very often. Their foot does grow as the base grows. The tentacles that it has now wont really grow but it will grow new ones as the base grows. Oh and also clowns dont host anemones, anemones host clowns.

1: Its acclimating to the tank, lighting and water.It may have a very hard time doing this since your tank is only 2 months old.

2: The only stupid question is the one that isn't asked and therefore never answered. Both will grow and yes tentacles is the right word

3: A good amount of LFS usually are not trust worthy since most want to sell, but hey every now and then there is an honest person out there. Its a general rule of thumb that one should wait 6 month until adding a nem. It can be pulled off but you need to be very observant of the nem and respond quickly to its needs since at 2 months the tank isnt what i would call a stable enough enviroment.

Canister filters are a no no to to me and many other reefers, they tend to become a ticking time bomb of sorts. With a good skimmer you dont need much more filtration power.
