New Bubble Anemone Question/Help

I bought a beautiful RTBA exactly 2 weeks ago today.

The first few days it stayed where i put it, looking really good.

Then it moved behind the rock where there is virtually no light. I could still see it and it looked good, but it stayed there for about 4 days before moving into the light a bit (still not all the way). At this point i fed it a small silver slide, which it ate right away.

Then it started really moving towards the light, which seemed like a good sign to me. Until it let go of the rock and floated into my torch coral. I saw this happen and reached in to separate them right away. I set it down in the light but it was very unhappy. (shrunken, not latching on to the rock etc.).

That night it moved back behind the rock it had been behind previously and has been there ever since. It's been about a week now that it has stayed back there. Every other day it moves enough that i can see it's tentacles (barely), which are still puffy. But I have also seen the bottom of it's foot so i don't believe it is really sticking to the rock. I have not seen it's mouth, but what i have seen of it looks okay looks okay except for the not sticking part.

Its in the bottom left corner of the tank behind the rock.

I have heard you are supposed to leave them be, but at what point should i intervene? I can not get to it to feed it where it is, and would have to move my rock work around to get to it.

Here is a full view of the tank.

Tank 125 gallons, running for 11 months.
LED lights
3 power heads
Temp 78.8
Salinity 1.025
Ph 8.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 0

Corals and fish are all thriving

I do a 10% water change every 2 weeks. I have not done one since i put the Anemone in so it could get settled.

What should i do?

Well how bad was the damage with the run with the torch? And usually when damage is done you shouldn't feed them. So that they can put there energy towards healing depending on the damage done. I'm not sure as to why it wouldn't be latching to a rock. But pay attention to it. If it trys to latch and slips off then it maybe sick. Or the foot was damaged by your torch. And as long as the mouth isn't ballooning out then it's not hungry. If it does feed it a little portion of what you normally feed it. This is just through my own experience with my RBTA and torch in my nano. And after my RBTA split. I'm sure ppl with a lot more experience will chime in. but in the mean time hope this helps. And BTA are insane creatures, they do their own thing. Puff up one day and the next be all noodle like.

first, congrats on what looks like a beautiful BTA :)
second, I would no longer feed silver sides (do a search here and you will see why)
Your nem is trying to acclimate itself to your setup, most likely your LED lighting.
Give it the time it needs to find it's happy place and do not disturb it as it does (unless you find it floating around on your other corals again :()
when it is settled in, in such a place that you can easily get to it then I would suggest small foods like mysis or raw (uncooked) shrimp chopped into small bites.
Anemones do not require feedings as they produce their own food through photosynthesis so you okay not feeding it right away...

Best of Luck :)

nice tank!

I think its just getting adjusted to the tank. Keep your eye open though it will move around unitl it finds a spot its happy and could kill some coral in the process

Thanks for your input!

When it landed on the torch their tentacles kind of burnt each other's a little. I could see where they had touched after. I'm assuming it's foot must have been stung also since it was only latching with the edge of it's foot afterward. Honestly i have no idea what it's doing today since i can't see it at all. They were only on each other for 15-20 seconds since i was right there. That happened last Tues. so exactly a week ago. I have not fed it since the run in with the torch.

It sounds like it might just be healing and getting over the shock of the whole experience. I'll just continue to let it be. I would feel a lot better if it would decide to come back out soon though... It's pretty much in the dark, so i'm not sure how much photosynthesis is happening at the moment.
