Hey everyone,

The new tank and stand arrived this last weekend, so I figured I'd throw some initial pictures up and the progress I make on it through out the summer. I am upgrading from a 220g, that I will be posting for sale as soon as all of the livestock makes the transition.

Equipment:

Acrylic Tank - 560g 10 feet long, 3 feet wide, 30 inches tall. (4) 1.5 inch drains, (2) 1 inch returns.
Steel stand that will be skinned with wood eventually
200g sump (More details when it arrives)

Bubble Magus BM-12 Curve
7 Radion G2's
2 Vectra L1 return pumps
5 MP40's
2 Maxspect 250 Gyres
Reeflink

Below are just a couple of pictures, I won't be able to start really working on it until next week though:

tagging along...who built your tank, looks great!

Thank you!

I went through Reef Monsters who had GP Services (Dominic) build it. I have a sump being built as well, but that is slightly behind schedule, which is fine since I can't work on it right now anyway.

This should be a great build! Looking forward to it!

560 gallons would probably push the spousal unit too far...

This looks like an awesome build. Tank looks fantastic.

I really like your idea of re-using perfectly good equipment (Radions G2) instead of buying the latest and greatest. Smart thinking.

How were you able to use MP40s? I had to upgrade to MP60s when I moved up to a 300 gallon tank due to the acrylic thickness.

I had a few MP40's from previous builds, so right now I am just hopeful that they will handle the thickness. It's been killing me not being able to spend the time setting it up to see what equipment I already have will work and how to proceed!

That's awesome, Dominic does great work! Looking forward!

Picked up the sump today!

First chamber has three 1inch holes for bulkheads; I plan to fill this area with MarinePure Spheres. The water will flow down then over three filter sock chambers. If the section clogs then there is a lip that the water will eventually reach and spill over.

Second chamber is for the skimmer and where water will run over and through a section where you see black eggcrate. I originally was going to put GFO and carbon here, but I may just use my NextReef reactors for that.

If all of the chambers clog up to this point (something is very wrong!), but there is a rectangle cut out that will allow water to run through it.

Next chamber will have MarinePure blocks on the bottom and all the rock I can fit in it. Following that section is just where the L1 return pumps will be sitting.

Lastly, the refugium is all the way on the right and has its own return bulkhead so that i can control the flow that is going into it. I am debating keeping my breeding clowns down there as well, so that I can attempt to capture their eggs. This section runs into the return to the left of it of course.

First is getting it home and unloading it. It was actually fairly light.

Next Steps:

I have a pond liner coming in that I will attach to the wooden bottom to protect it from spills as well as the tile underneath it.

I've ordered the majority of my plumbing and will hopefully start that in the middle of next week. It will be done in schedule 80 and blue PVC.

Looking good.

When I did research on the marine pure block, I decided to use the large brick as its thickness is to to help with nitrates as well. It has something to do with the thickness and lack of oxygen like larger pieces of live rock.

It might also build up more trapped detritus with the spheres vs brick.

Your build just thought I would give my $.02.

I will definitely keep that in mind. I already have a large container of the spheres, so I may try them out for awhile, but I was planning on using the 8x4 inch blocks as well.

That's a beast!

Whats the plan for this tank? I'm assuming based on the lighting you shooting for a mixed reef? Have you started planning your livestock selection yet?
