New build thread

I hate silicone....it is not my friend. I will try to clean it up tomorrow. Set up as follows, drains are in the fuge and skimmer section

Fuge>>>>Return<<<<<Skimmer

Looking good Tim! What size is the sump? And that is an awesome looking skimmer. Should be big enough for the 125.

It's a 40 long and the skimmer is a MSX 200, it comes with a Sicce 2500 pump, i'm thinking of changing it out for a bubble blaster so I can avoid the loud startup issues.

Never run the Sicce pumps so can't be any help there. I like the old ASM skimmers with the Sedra pumps. Very few problems and dependable.

Leak testing....only leak I had is my deck isn't level so the right hand overflowed...well, overflowed.

Glad to see you made the back round blue. I have just decided to stop using black backrounds all together. Blue looks much nicer imo.

Me too, seems to be a nice contrast. I still need to put another can on, that's just one. For some reason the flash makes it look nice and even, it's not. Went with Krylon Fusion Navy Blue, having a heck of time finding another can.

Got some plumbing done today, couple of changes I will change as far as unions are concerned. I figured I didn't need one on the return pump since I was using flexible tubing, but didn't occur to me that I still had pvc running down into the return. Did the same thing on the right hand drain, DOH. If I have to remove the sump I won't be able to without cutting some pipe out. I will fix those two problems sometime next week. Still have to plumb the top half of the overflows and get the reactor mounted.

Got the 10 gallon tank which will act as my ATO container and have a aqualifter pump on order, need to figure out where to put it at so I don't create a siphon.
Not much to look at, but here ya go..

First attempt at aquascaping, this is subject to change. I'm going for open area and lots of swimming room.

Changed my lighting plans, originally planned on T5, but now will go with LED. I am going to do 3 24 LED arrays. I'll have the room to put more in if needed, but for what I'm keeping I think it will be fine, besides each line will be over a rock tower so if I decide to keep some SPS they can go on them. Will order enough parts for 1 array this weekend so I will have it in enough time to play around with over the holiday weekend.

Here's the toys from today's delivery....

Stained Glass, thought it would be darker. Looking at it through flashlight, it's pretty light but I'm thinking mixed with Royal Blue LED's it should darken and be more blue.

Let there be light. 12 Cool White Cree LED on Meanwell eln-60-48P driver controlled by RapidLed lighting controller. These are set to maximum from the dimming circuit, but I have the driver turned down to about 75 percent, so their capable of being alot brighter. The fixutre will hang about 5 inches from the top of the canopy. Those are 60 degree optics which I may change to something wider depending on how corals react.

The other driver has a bad pot on it, they offered to send me another pot or send the driver back for repair. I opted for the pot. Will start putting the Royal Blues on now.

Picked up a bunch of little odds and ends today to keep me busy. Installed the glass today, little bit lighter than what I was expecting, but I suspect once I have the the LED's more towards the blue side, it should darken it up. Here's a couple quick pics..

ere it is with 24 lights in middle, I still need to raise my light up another few inches, my brainstorm didn't work for hanging it. I believe I'm running the the whites at 45 % and RB at 100 %, both at 950mah
