New Camera Question

Just to clarify, the front of the Sigma doesn't rotate either so you are OK using filters like polarizers. But, the change in length as you focus can be annoying.

sry for hijacking the thread but here's quick question...

I have been debating between D60 and XSI... and finally chose XSI

and just need to order!! but.. I saw refurbished 40D for 700 to

750ish from authorized canon store... and w/ live.com cash back..

almost 500 to 550... would this be better than XSI ??

and get canon 50mm /1.8f as starting package??

The 40D is the superior camera. If you can get a Canon-authorized refurbished 40D *with warranty* for the same price of an Xsi, I say go for it. Canon is very thorough on their repairs. They seem to break it down and fix everything whether you ask them to or not in my experience.

only downside is warranty is only 90days instead of 1yrs...

is this typical for refurbished?? I will check w/ Canon about

warranty and seller (for authorized store)

would be still good choice to get 40D over XSI even w/ 90days

That is 3 months to find something wrong. If I found a similar deal (but with a 5D...I already have a 40D), I would take it.
