Time is flying, eh? Marc, you're right- I purchased one of those blade attachments for magnets and I was finally able to easily remove some nasty coralline a few weeks ago. That stuff had burned out the pads on my magnets- I should have gotten the attachment sooner. Now I have to get new pads. Only until it was too late did I realize there was a slight amount of green fuzz on the panes of glass, but I went ahead with this last photo anyways.

Reducing nitrates from 20ppm is advisable but also have your friend check his levels of Mg (magnesium) calcium and alkalinity. Also make sure that no fish are nipping LPS- I had to re-arrange some LPS when I introduced my Emperor.

I just love your little ecosystem! One of these days the hubby and I need to get over there and check out the workings of it all in preparation for some basement plumbing.

anyhoot, the recent URS/URSNY Garage Sale event was a success.
I fragged my large pink Birdnest and started up a new colony in the same spot as the previous one (with another very small frag).
With the large Seriatopora colony gone, my Acropora glauca table coral now has room to grow to the left side (in this pic.)

is progressing quickly
I've glued bits and pieces of broken up corals all over the place. Some are still rolling around the aquarium. Some have dropped into the rockwork, attached and are now growing- just like they would on a wild coral reef.

I have seen many broken pieces or frags that fall into the rockwork/caves and am always happy when they end up somewhere that allows them to actually grow...its sad when you see something that you cannot get to and know its going to die from lack of light...or get burried in the sand.
Gary tank is looking awesome, what is the piece directly up from the angel above the Monti?
