Hows the tank recovering?
Recovery is slow. Unfortunately, good things in a reef usually happen a lot slower than bad things. I can't get a really good FTS until the sun sets earlier and the house is darker. (My lights turn on early in the morning and off early evening.)

Were there any total loses?

Are you going to Kents? If so, and I have any of the items you lost I can give you a frag.

thanks, Kurt

thanks, Kurt

I had several total losses. Thanks to some people here (you know who you are!) I recovered some of the lost corals. I'm still looking for green slimer replacement, though. I don't yet know if I'm going to Kent's meet.

Andy & Josh- I haven't seen any pix in my email. Make sure NOT to email me through RC. (My emails through RC are automatically deleted.)

one month's haul of critters removed from my mechanical filter before cleaning it

the micro stars I believe to be Ophiactis algicola
there's also several 'pods, a nickel and a small bristleworm in the bucket. The crud that accumulates in one month's time in my filter pad is unbelievable.

Mine can't go that long but seriously, is your reef putting out cash?
it's a money pit!

I usually clean the filter pad once a week but I took a break for summer vacation :beachbum:

nice..I would too after all that you went through.

Nice pods...my fish don't let that many get by, but I have the same amount of mini-brittles and talk about a PITA getting them out of floss! I mentioned that on another forum and someone replied that they were easy to get out with bleach. I guess I am just not that kind of person. I actually changed my floss to make it easier.

the reef is putting out cash!! obviously...see the nickel?

Gary, Did you notice those stars from the start? I used to have a lot of bristleworms in my rock but since it sat in a rubbermaid with a powerhead for about a month this summer (while I did the basement plumbing) the bristleworms are hard for me to find and now I'm finding those stars everywhere in my tank. I had never seen a single one before and have not added anything they could have hitched to since the tank "reset". There are a couple that seem to be getting bigger than the ones in your pic but all I've been able to see of the larger ones are the legs...

Good one Gary!

redbj: You probably do have them and just don't know it. They are very common and prolific, but you rarely see them. If you pull some rocks or never find them in your mechanical filtration, you can always get some from a neighboring reefer. They multiply like jack rabbits and can be very beneficial to your system.

I might try to sed my tank next time I meet up with a reefer.

Gary, I have been following your tank build since you put it up. I'm sorry for the crash, but natural reefs build upon the remains of old reefs and I am sure you can do it better than before.

Ben

natural reefs do build upon the remains of others and that's what I've chosen to do.
