We chose to purchase a carpet several weeks ago. We installed a complete foam/rock wall over the past two weeks. Once the sand storm had lifted we put our live stock back in. We were happy that our carpet took up real estate in the left corner as before. Unfortunately our blue tang of 2 years decided that it's favorite spot was behind the anemone against the glass. We were very worried and tried to place some live rock rubble to encourage the tang to move, but last Saturday night our carpet decided my twice weekly feedings weren't sufficient enough and ate our diamond back goby followed by the next night eating the blue tang. He only regurgitated 1/2 of the goby, the tangs body has yet to surface.
We have had carpets in the past, with great success and luck I guess in the fact that they didn't eat our live stock
. Our peppermint and cleaner shrimp like to run all over it and try to steal it's food at feeding time. So far it has chosen not to eat either one of them, but I suppose it is a matter of time. We have two false percs in our tank. So far the frog spawn is the home of choice. The female has come down to check out the carpet, but as soon as it grabs on to her a little, she darts off. Hopefully she will one day host in our carpet, but no guarantees.
