New Chromis died in 24hrs

I think I rushed the acclimation process the other day. I walked away from tank for a few minutes and when I returned my drip line came unpinched. When I put him in the tank he was breathing hard and stayed in one corner for the night. He was fine in the morning, but died last night. Could the bad acclimation be the cause of death? All of my parameters are fine and the other fish he was with is fine.

Did you notice any lacerations on the fish? I'm guessing the other chromis took it out. Unless if the water you got the fish from was very different from your water. Or it could be it was just not healthy in the first place if it was breathing hard when you got it. Was the other one stressed out too when you put it in?

Yeah the other one was normal from the get go. My lfs does keep there salinity at 1.014 and mine is 1.024-1.025. I did notice his fins were a little ripped up last night. My stock include 2 very small false clowns, bicolor blenny (boss of the tank), royal gramma, and a scooter blenny. I don't think any of them would mess with him. Are chromis aggressive towards each other?

Chromis are aggressive toward eachother and when you start with a big group (I had 6-8 of them)they slowly dissapear (I have 2 left)

Chromis are usually very aggressive towards each other (they are in the damsel family).

That's a big change in SG, and it's definitely harder for fish to tolerate an increase than the other way around, so the acclimation may have had something to do with it.

The SG shift seems pretty significant and going up too fast can cause some serious shock and death. Did you see any red discolorations on the fish?
