I got a new set of percula clowns from Diver's Den.. its been about 12 days.. First couple days, both of them ate but not very aggressively. But since then, the smaller one has had some issues eating. About day 5 or so, the smaller one stop eating.. Then about day 10 or so, the smaller one started eating but only a few bites (was a piece of mega marine angel, and some pellets from hiraki).. now day 12 and again the small one ignores food. Tried mysis, brineshrimp w/spiral, hikari seaweed extreme & pellets, and flakes, and mega marine angel.

I read nutamar ova is good try.. anything else? I will stop by LFS to see what they have available. Also, strange but both clowns appear to be breathing much more heavily then other fish. No marks, no scratching, nada. They are from divers den so I dont expect them to have any diseases either.

They're in a 29G QT tank with a few other fish that just all completed TTM.

How long can a clownfish go without eating much? This one is probably just under 2".

If your clownfish is eating around 3-5 small pellets a day, then it's just fine....I too when started thought that my smaller clownfish wasn't getting enough food, as the larger one would have around 10 pellets or so a day....sometimes, they would eat as if not been fed for ages and the next day, they might not be too interested in food...not too worry, unless they're weak.

Someone told me, that the way I look at it, is a fish stomach is as big or double the size of it's eye...So consider, how many pellets would go through an eye....A small clownfish about an inch or 2, 3-5 small pellets a day is fine...It's definitely not starving itself, unless it's not eaten in say, a minimum of 3-5 days straight.

Heavy Breathing....yes, that's a concern, which I am battling as well. Wait for the professionals to chip in to give you a better idea of things...You could also read my threads, which would give you an idea of things, while you get advise from the pros.

29G QT with what kind of filtration? have you tested ammonia/nitrite? poor water condition would be my thought, considering they are in ther with a few other fish. Brine shrimp is usually considered the candy/treat of the fish realm so if they aren't eating that then there is something seriously wrong.. (aside from fish that generally only eat live foods) So.. if you are sure all conditions are great, they aren't being bullied by the other fish, next step is live brineshrimp or black worms.

-oh.. and they could certainly have diseases... flukes might be what they are suffering from... prazipro might fix them up... divers den means nothing other than WYSIWYG.. here is something odd though.. all reef fish i've had will eat mysis.. i have a clownfish that will only eat flake food right now... ocean nutrition is the brand, haven't tried others.. but it wont eat frozen foods.. (Although I haven't tried brine, but clownfish I've had have all gone crazy for mysis over flake, except for this one).
