I actually have ran the fish department at this store for 5 years, been working ich free in this column for the longest. I do agree about QT though.

Petcos vary alot, all depends on the team. If you want to find a good Petco, find one that is a "magnet" assortment code and you'll have better luck. The one I've been running was terrible at first, but I've brought it to magnet status in no time.

What kinda petco's do you poeple have lol? The ones I've been too near D.C. suck

I go to the same ones you go to... Yes they are BAD!!

I gave up on them except for basic equipment like a net or something. All equip I get offline and I go to House of Tropicals in Genn Burnie for my LFS. Or Roozens in Allentown.

I've taken some risks in buying from my local "Pet Supplies Plus" chain. They do have some fish that die in tanks when they first come in from a shipment as well as some cyano problems however the only respectable LFS in this town upcharges by about 40%. I bought a 5-6" really nice looking sleeper goby just last week for $20 from pet supplies plus. I've also bought a 4-5" humu humu trigger for $30 from there and he's been fine.

I hear you worm, been to roozens quite a few times, used to find some great frags there, but they've slowed down on corals a LOT. Got my pair of onyx percs from there actually about 5 years ago 50 bucks for the pair, but I just lost my male this week :( after a tank move. Looking for another...

Hey dont get me wrong, I would deffinately take the risk if I saw something worth it, like those beauties up above. Thats what a QT is for right? They just dont have to cool stock. I've NEVER seen any picassos, snowflakes, or platinums at any of the petco's I visit in the washington area EVER.

Yeah in VA Pristine Aquariums has good selection and like I said House of Tropicals in Glenn Burnie. I mean I drive 60m one way to glenn burnie.

Roozens has new stuff that comes in on Sat morning's at 8am. There is a line to get in and the new stuff goes normally within the hour.

I have about 300 gallons of salt minus sumps, clean skimmers daily, check prefilter pads daily, monitor calcium, and water changes if nitrate >5, have no problem keeping stuff alive, doing about 1500 in salt a week with 10 percent shrink. But this taxes my soul as with other shop responsibilities, I spend every last minute maintenancing my systems. However this pays off in that I sell platinum regularly for 150 each, and a lot of ORA frags.

Keep up the good work.
From the pic's, it looks like someone is working hard and doing a great job of keeping the tanks clean. Much better than many of the shops I've been in.

Peace
EC
