New Crosshatch wont eat!

Hello ,

Well I just purchased my dream pair; a pair of crosshatch triggerfish. They are stunning. I added them to my 300 reef, with purple, hippo, yellow, and unicorn tang, clarki clowns, blue damsel, solar wrasse, gobys, and other fish. The male has been pretty active, with the female regularly hiding in rocks. Now, they are both hiding in rocks. They seem to be healthy, and i just got them Thursday. THey have not eaten though, so should i be worried yet, or is this normal? When will they begin to eat, and when should I worry. Im probably a bit neurotic, but this was a pricey fish, which i intend to keep forever!

Thanks

A good week is completely normal if not expected. Most x-hatches take a month to come out regulury and show their faces and when you approach the tank they will hide. Being that you have a place for them to hide will greatly help with your success with the fish. Try not to make any sudden movements around the display. Give them time they will be fine if they were collected properly and quarantined. Once acclimated they are bullet proof. Tim

I agree with Tim, I've had my female for over 2 years now and she is a fantastic fish full of personality. She is completely reef safe and gets along great with all of my other fish.

triggers are known to be shy when first introduced i would say anywere from a week or even longer i wouldnt worry at this point yet if the tank params are good and stable and they show no signs of distress just let them be
