Last comment: too bad we did not have a better turnout at the last meeting so that we could have possibly had more than 2 positions require an actual vote.

John

i'm happy with everyone's elected positions, don't think it could have worked out better.

carole, i am optimistic on the progress in the future. i know you guy's are hard at work. i realize these things are going to take time to straiten out. just don't want to be talking about these things at next year election. hopefully we can continue to get the open discussion we have been getting.

chuck, congrats on on graduating to the high ranks of the "1 post club". you get an s+ for today, and a smilie sticker ":) "

Don't get me wrong.....I think we have a great board for the upcoming year, and the open discussions are great.....but....I would bet that many of the items we are discussing today, we will be discussing a year from now, or will be a part of the discussions as we contemplate elections for 2007. Nothing wrong with that. Getting a website that we can be proud of again will go a long way to accomplishing our s/t and l/t goals.

John

BTW, I hope I am wrong and we work everything out...but it is one heck of a long list...and will require help from more than just the members of the board.

All I have to say guys, is Chuck is on top of his game. And I am willing to bet that list will be wittled down sooner than you think.

GO TO THIS THREAD to take a test drive of the temporary site..please read the stuff I wrote, and check out the other sites I listed under item 1 to see if you all are in agreement that is what you want long term.

C-Sea Site Thread

thx..

I'll have to check out the CORA auction, but it sounds similar in concept to the "garage sale" we had in January which was well attended and seemed popular. It was a more informal meeting that gave everyone a chance to socialize and sell off unused equipment. Should we make it an annual event?

Hey all-

Hopefully this isn't hijacking the thread...

The CORA Auction will hopefully be a little more organized than what I think of when you say garage sale (although I didn't attend the C-Sea Garage Sale, so it may have been more organized than it sounds). The auction will be similar to the auctions held by the Ohio Cichlid Association (http://www.ohiocichlid.com)and the Greater Cincinnati Aquarium Society (http://www.gcas.org). They're auctions are mostly freshwater fish and plants. The CORA auction will be mostly coral frags and reef related items.

CORA is allowing drygoods since most reef related drygoods are relatively valuable. The other clubs only take drygoods as donations to prevent people from unloading junk out of their fishroom (how many used Whisper filters can you really handle).

The goal of the auction is to reduce the impact of harvesting from wild reefs and promote captive grown livestock. We're allowing retailers to bring aquacultured and farmed corals as well.

CORA's split is $1 per item + 10% of the selling price. CORA will subtract the split from your total sales and cut you a check a week or so after the auction.

If you have an expensive item, you can pay $5 upfront to set a minimum bid price, but you have to reclaim the item if it doesn;t sell. If you're leaving early, you can pay $1 to prioritize any item.

Admission is free, so if you're interrested, come on down and check it out.

If anyone wants to pre-register as a seller, please PM me with your contact info and an estimate of how many items you'll bring. I'll give you a 3 letter seller code. Still, anyone can show up and register the day of the auction... preferably before the auction starts...

We have a special forum setup just for the auction if you want info, or need to ask a question:

Good point, i think this works well for you guys because CORA has such a nice website, very informative and lets all the club members know what is going on.

Thanks! I'm the one who designed it and updates it. Seandanekind controls our forum since that is a job within it's own. I try to keep the site updated and current with what's going on with the club. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Sorry for another CORA member jumping in. :D

A possible speaking topic that could be interesting is Zeovit. I know atleast a couple members in the club use it and although I am not personally interested in using the product(s), it is something that I have not seen (besides on the forums) being discussed? Maybe someone has before/after pics, or can give info on how they personally use the system and have benfitted/not benefitted from it. This would be a change of pace from the usual DSB/BB/Chaeto-n-skimmer approaches and maybe we could learn something new or get new ideas for the way we run our systems now?
