New DIY Ca reactor

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks GEBC for all your help. I got the reactor done. There was some mods I did and incorporated another design (hystrix), but this thread and your help made me build this.

For the feed pump, I just used a Viaaqua 480 and tapped in a 1/8mpt x 1/4 speedfit Watts fitting. Works great!

After a weekend of a leak and pressure test, It passed! Thanks GEBC for all your help!

nice job

nice job

Deuce67, Great job on that reactor, it looks very professional, thanks for the kind words on my design, if you need a design for a great kalkwasser reactor give me a shout (I have a DIY radial design for a kalkwasser reactor that works great). Kalk reactors and CaC03 reactors run simultaneously provide the best of both worlds. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>GEBC http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=39429&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500[/IMG]

Sweet! I will holler at yah when I am ready for a kalk reactor! My head is still spinning from building the calcium reactor!

Wow! Its been a year already since GEBC helped me build this reactor. Still going strong! I cant even remember the last time I tinkered with it.

Hey Deuce67, looks as if you did a little mod on the reactors base where it's attached to the cutting board. was there any reason for the mod? The home depot here doesn't carry the syrene caps and grates & neither does lowes so kind of stuck. Any help you or anyone else here can offer would be appriciated...

by the way, nice work done on your reactor.... looks really good

The caps and grates are the thin wall type. They might be located in the lawn and garden area. It's the stuff used for 4" perforated pipe. HTH.

The base was just a little easier for me to do. If I remember correctly, its called a closet flange I think. Onagi is right. The thin wall items are located in a different area of the plumbing section. I think ours was located where the drainage fittings are at.

If you get the caps make sure the manufacture's raised print is on the top not sides. It will make a better seal when glued. I have heard of using the closet flange. I think you want the one with the knock out still in place.

Very nice work Greeneyedblack cat! I'm halfway from converting my spare turboflotor skimmer into a cal reactor, but now, so far I like yours a lot better. I wish I would have seen this thread ealier he he he..

I've pm'd you, e-mailed you and anything else I could think of to try and reach you to see if you could send me the plans for this ca reactor with your modifications and oh yeah of course without the interactions of all the threads so I know whats what..... Can you help me ? pm things to me please.....

I can't find the Clear PVC on US Plastics for ~6... all I can find is the 16$ /ft stuff. Where are we getting this stuff from now? Great thread and thanks in advance for all the help!
